Introducing: “Sew-Cool" Sewing Meets Science Camp!

Are you ready to sew up some summer fun? Come check out Maker Studio Kidz’ “Sew-Cool: Sewing Meets Science” Camp, held between June 24 - July 26! Join for the whole month or just a week as we come together to blend the art of sewing with the wonders of scientific exploration. Designed for budding makers and curious minds, this camp promises a summer of fun and learning!

At “Sew Cool,” campers will explore a variety of exciting projects that combine sewing with science. On any given day, you might find them creating lotions and lip balms to put into their homemade makeup bags, or sewing stuffies out of fabrics that they dyed themselves! Whether they’re creating scented neck wraps, experimenting with screen-printing, or crafting cozy pillows, campers will always have a new and fun challenge to enjoy. “Sew-Cool” Weekly Themes:

Week 1 (June 24-28): Basics of Machine Sewing

Learn the fundamentals of sewing, from threading a needle to mastering the sewing machine. Campers will create their own pillows, wallets, and draw-string bags to hone their sewing skills.

Week 2 (July 8-12): Sensory Science Design Lab

Let’s get messy! Using the scientific method, we will explore the science of scent, texture, and color as they create scents, non-Newtonian fluids, natural dyes, slime, and resin crafts.

Week 3 (July 15-19): Sewing Fab Lab

Let your imagination run wild in our Fab Lab! Campers will take the reigns as they learn to integrate new materials into their sewing projects, including cardboard, paint, and homemade screen-printed textiles.

Week 4 (July 22-26): Sewing, Spa, and Science

This week, we will take relaxation to the next level as we combine the magic of spa science with the fun of sewing. Campers will learn about the science of self-care as they create their own spa-inspired products, including face masks, bath bombs, and more!
