It Started With an Idea: What If Learning Felt More Like Making?

Maker Studio Kidz began with a belief that creativity belongs at the center of how children learn.

In 2017, founder Marissa began exploring a simple question: How could kids connect subjects like math and science to something they already love?

Growing up with dyslexia, traditional learning could be challenging, but creativity came naturally. Through her love of fashion, design, making, and problem-solving, Marissa saw an opportunity to approach learning differently. This inspired one of our first programs, Fashion Engineering—using fashion and design as a creative lens for exploring math, science, engineering, and problem-solving.

That curiosity became the foundation of Maker Studio Kidz.

Over the past decade, we've developed 50+ original programs and reached more than 30,000 young makers, connecting everything from science and engineering to sewing, building, art, storytelling, history, and how things work.

One thing remains at the heart of what we do: curiosity. We take the things kids are naturally curious about and turn them into opportunities to explore, create, problem-solve, and discover new ways of learning.
