How Camp Works

Camp Details

Maker Studio Kidz camps are hands-on, creative experiences where kids are encouraged to explore, invent, design, build, and make.

Our camp days combine guided art, design, sewing, craft, and STEAM projects with open maker time, creative challenges, group activities, breaks, and opportunities for kids to bring their own ideas to life.

Our camps are group experiences, and our teachers support multiple children throughout the day. Before registering, please review the information below to make sure your child is ready for camp and that our program is a good fit for their needs.

Age & Readiness for Camp

Our camp age ranges are based on the projects, tools, length of the camp day, and level of independence expected from campers.

For our youngest and first-time campers, children should be able to:

Be fully potty trained and use the bathroom independently, including managing clothing and basic hygiene.
Separate from a parent or caregiver and remain at camp independently.
Communicate basic needs, such as needing the bathroom, water, help, or a break.
Follow basic directions and safety instructions with age-appropriate reminders.
Stay with their group during activities and transitions.
Use scissors and other age-appropriate maker tools safely and independently without continuous one-on-one assistance.
Eat snacks and lunch with reasonable independence.
Participate in a group environment where teachers are supporting multiple children at the same time.

Every child develops at their own pace. Meeting the minimum age requirement does not always mean a child is ready for a full camp day.

If your child is still developing several of these skills, our camp may not be the right environment for them just yet. We encourage families to wait until their child is ready to participate safely and with age-appropriate independence.

Community & Behavior Expectations

Creativity can be messy, energetic, exciting, and sometimes challenging! We want camp to be a place where children feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, trying again, and expressing their ideas.

We also have a responsibility to maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment for every camper and staff member.

Campers are expected to:

Treat other campers, teachers, materials, and our space with respect.
Keep their hands, bodies, and tools safe around others.
Follow camp rules and important safety instructions.
Stay within designated camp areas and with their group.
Respond to reasonable teacher instructions and redirection.
Participate without requiring continuous one-on-one supervision or redirection.

We understand that children have difficult moments. Our teachers use age-appropriate strategies such as reminders, redirection, choices, movement or sensory breaks, project modifications, and quiet time to help campers reset and successfully rejoin the group.

Our Behavior & Safety Process

When a camper is having ongoing difficulty following camp expectations, we generally follow these steps:

1. Camper Reminder & Redirection
A teacher will speak directly with the camper, explain the concern, review the camp expectation, and help them make a different choice.

2. Parent/Caregiver Notification
If the behavior continues or another significant incident occurs, we will contact the camper's parent or caregiver. We'll explain what we're seeing and work together on ways to support a successful camp experience.

3. Removal From Camp
If unsafe or significantly disruptive behavior continues after the camper and family have been notified, Maker Studio Kidz may remove the camper from the remainder of the camp program.

For serious safety concerns—including physical aggression, intentionally leaving the supervised camp area, dangerous use of tools or materials, or behavior that creates an immediate safety risk—we may require immediate pick-up and may move directly to removal without following the standard warning process.

Our goal is to support children whenever possible while also protecting the safety and experience of the entire camp community.

Additional Support Needs

Every child is different, and we want families to feel comfortable sharing information that will help their child have a successful experience.If your child has additional support needs, sensory considerations, accessibility needs, behavioral needs, medical considerations, or anything else that may affect their camp experience, please contact us before registering.

Our standard camp staffing model does not include dedicated one-on-one support. If your child typically requires continuous individual support in a school, classroom, or camp environment, please contact our team before enrollment so we can discuss your child's needs, possible accommodations, and our program structure.

What to Bring to Camp

Specific information will be sent before your camp begins, but campers should generally bring:

- A labeled water bottle

-Lunch and snacks

-Comfortable clothing that can get messy

-Closed-toe shoes appropriate for making and active play

-Any additional items listed in your camp confirmation

Please label personal belongings whenever possible. We recommend leaving valuable toys, electronics, and special personal items at home.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Please arrive during the designated drop-off and pick-up times for your camp. Children must be signed in and out by an authorized adult. If someone other than the registering parent or caregiver will be picking up your child, please make sure they are listed as an authorized pick-up person. If Before Care or Aftercare is available for your camp, it must be registered separately unless otherwise noted. You can request day of and team will invoice family

Cancellations, Transfers & Camp Credit

Because camp spaces are limited and we schedule staff and purchase materials based on enrollment, all camp registrations are final and non-refundable.We understand that plans change, so eligible cancellations and changes may be converted to Maker Studio Kidz account credit through Sawyer, subject to the policies below.

Camp Changes & Transfers

Need to switch to another camp? We're happy to help when space is available.

- One transfer requested 14 days or more before camp begins is complimentary.

- Changes or transfers requested within 14 days of camp are subject to a $25 change fee.

All transfers are subject to availability and are not guaranteed.

Additional changes to the same registration may also be subject to a $25 change fee.

Once a camp has started, the remaining registration cannot be transferred to another camp.

Third-Party Marketplace Registrations

Registrations made through a third-party marketplace or booking platform are subject to a 20% change or transfer fee. This helps cover the non-refundable marketplace and processing fees associated with these bookings. Any refund, credit, cancellation, or transfer may also be subject to the policies of the third-party platform used to make the original reservation.

Illness & Sick Days

We know kids get sick! If your child is sick, please keep them home so they can rest and help us keep our camp community healthy. If your child needs to miss a camp day because of illness, please email our team before the missed camp day or on the day of the absence.

When proper notice is provided, we can issue a Sawyer make-up credit for the value of the missed camp day. The credit is valid for 30 days and may be applied toward an eligible Maker Studio Kidz program with available space.

Sick-day credits: Must be requested before or on the day of the absence. Are valid for 30 days from the missed camp day. Are subject to program availability. Have no cash value and cannot be refunded. Cannot be issued retroactively for previously missed days or no-shows when our team was not notified. If your child becomes sick after arriving at camp and needs to be picked up early, the day is considered attended and is not eligible for a full-day make-up credit.

Other Missed Camp Days Make-up credits are provided for illness-related absences only when the notification requirements above are met. Credits or make-up days are not provided for vacations, appointments, family schedule changes, late arrivals, early departures, forgotten camp days, or other personal scheduling conflicts.

If a camper is removed from camp due to serious or ongoing violations of our Camp Community & Behavior Expectations, unused camp days are non-refundable and are not eligible for future camp credit.

If Maker Studio Kidz Cancels a Camp Occasionally, Maker Studio Kidz may need to cancel a camp or camp day due to low enrollment, staffing, facility issues, emergencies, or other circumstances. If Maker Studio Kidz cancels a camp or camp day and we are unable to provide an alternative, families will be offered a Maker Studio Kidz credit or refund for the canceled portion of the program.
